CAN I FILE AN ORDER OF PROTECTION AND GET CUSTODY OF MY CHILDREN?

The purpose of an order of protection is to provide safety for yourself and possibly your children.  If safety is not a concern they cannot be used as a tool to gain custody of your children.  However, if safety is a concern custody can be requested within the protection order.
